COMING IN

The Flames snapped a three-game losing skid by dropping Edmonton 4-1 Monday night, their fourth victory this season over the Oilers. It moved them up from eighth to fifth in the Western Conference standings prior to last night's action. Still, Calgary is struggling at home this season.

Remember when the Kings arrived in Calgary last time? They were first in the Western Conference thanks to an excellent run. They lost to the Flames 2-1 Dec. 17 and have since dropped games to Phoenix and Minnesota.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Calgary has won two of three meetings this season to give them victories in 12 of the last 14 meetings. Among those was a 2-1 victory earlier this month. This is the fourth and final game between the clubs this year, all in less than six weeks.

SPECIAL TEAMS

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 17.9% (24-134, 15th); Los Angeles 19.6% (29-148, 12th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 83.4% (T-10th); Los Angeles 78.7% (24th).

INJURIES

FLAMES -- D Cory Sarich (undisclosed) is back practising.

KINGS -- C Jarret Stoll (groin), C Andrei Loktionov (shoulder) and D Randy Jones (head) are all listed as day-to-day. RW Justin Williams (broken leg) is out.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"My biggest concern is the reasons why you have the inconsistency. Those are things that aren't on the ice. They're related to other issues you're dealing with."

Brent Sutter
