UNSUNG HERO

Dustin Boyd's fight right after the Oilers opened the scoring isn't usually the kind you'd think would spark a team. But the Flames winger did throw down and later grabbed an assist.

WHY THE FLAMES WON

Goalie Miikka Kiprusoff held the fort during a one-sided first period, and Rene Bourque continued his production against the Oilers.

SAVE OF THE GAME

Moments after the Oilers opened the scoring in the first period, they had a powerplay chance which went for naught because Flames G Miikka Kiprusoff made big saves on C Shawn Horcoff and C Sam Gagner from the doorstep.

GOAL OF THE GAME

The timing was key. Despite being outshot by a 16-5 margin in the first period, the Flames drew even 1-1 after 20 minutes thanks to Rene Bourque's first of the night. It was a solid finish on a great pass from Nigel Dawes.

FIGHT CARD

Dustin Boyd and Andrew Cogliano fought in the first period. Jarome Iginla tussled with Ladislav Smid late during a fight-filled third period.
