UNSUNG HERO

SAVE OF THE GAME

On a first period powerplay, a loose puck came to Thrashers LW Ilya Kovalchuk at the right circle, and he unleashed a howitzer toward the top corner that Flames G Miikka Kiprusoff snagged.

WHY FLAMES WON

They took advantage of two shaky goals on Thrashers G Johan Hedberg and played a tight defensive shell that didn't allow the visitors to get many scoring chances.

FIGHT CARD

They were battling each other all game, so in the third period, Flames LW Curtis Glencross and Thrashers RW Colby Armstrong finally dropped the mitts for a tussle won by Glencross.
