CALGARY FLAMES (7-4-1) AT DALLAS STARS (6-3-5)
6:30 P.M., TSN/FAN 960
COMING IN
Taking a day off after a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at the Saddledome Saturday, the Flames paid for it Monday with a physical and exhausting practice. They've dropped their last two decisions and haven't looked great doing it. The Stars have also lost two in a row, including a 4-2 decision in Nashville Saturday but sit two points ahead of the Flames in the Western Conference.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Handing Calgary its first loss of the campaign with a 5-2 thrashing at the Dome Oct. 9, the Stars didn't do Flames backup goaltender Curtis McElhinney any favours in his only appearance of the season.
SPECIAL TEAMS
POWERPLAY -- Calgary 27.8% (10-36, T-3rd); Dallas 17.7% (11-62, T-18th).
PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 79.2% (19th); Dallas 74.5% (25th)
INJURIES
CALGARY -- C Daymond Langkow (undisclosed) and LW Eric Nystrom (undisclosed) are probable.
DALLAS -- G Marty Turco (flu), C Brad Richards (groin), RW Loui Eriksson (flu), RW Jere Lehtinen (abdomen), and C Mike Modano (ribs) are probable. D Mark Fistric (ankle) is questionable.
NOTABLES
Stars C Mike Modano and LW Jere Lehtinen could make their season debuts against the Flames after sitting out the start of the campaign with injuries ... G Marty Turco is expected to start after sitting out the weekend with flu-like symptoms.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THESE TWO PLAYERS IN TONIGHT'S GAME
JAROME IGINLA, RW
The heat is on the Flames captain as he continues to struggle with consistency. He's been called out by his coach and is being chastised by fans. The 3-1 loss on Halloween might have been his worst game this season -- no shots, no points, no hits and minus-2.
NICKLAS GROSSMAN, D
Remember that 5-2 Stars win over the Flames at the Dome earlier this season? Grossman was plus-5, along with partner Stephane Robidas. Grossman is doing his part in the role of shutdown defender and is among the league-leaders with a plus-9.
