Fleury Watch
By STEVE MACFARLANE, SUN MEDIA

WHAT THEO DID LAST NIGHT

The skinny

Played with LW Curtis Glencross and C Jamie Lundmark, although head coach Brent Sutter changed it up a little at times.

Time on ice: 11:45

Shots on goal: 3

Goals: 0

Assists: 1

Plus/Minus: plus-1

Blocked shots: 1

The good

Fleury's chip-in on his first shift of the night confounded Nikolai Khabibulin, and Curtis Glencross scooped it up behind the net before putting it in 1:34 into the contest. The assist gives Fleury his fourth point in as many pre-season games.

Fleury isn't big, but he tried to throw his body around. Most notably, he pounded Oilers defenceman Denis Grebeshkov into the end boards in the second.

Positionally, Fleury was probably at his best to date. The wheels don't turn as quickly as they did in his prime, but he used his head to find open ice.

The bad

At times his legs look like they're giving out. His fitness level might be great, but he still has a lot of work to do when it comes to endurance.

Quote to note

"I don't know many people that might not be pulling for him ... I've always said in my own mind a player should play until they boot you out the door. Someone's opened the door again for him. If he can get in, great."

-- Oilers head coach Pat Quinn on Fleury's comeback attempt.
