Fleury Watch

What Theo did yesterday

Skated with ...

C Daymond Langkow and LW Nigel Dawes, the players he'll likely play with tonight.

Looked good ...

- Lost in the sequence that ended with Fredrik Sjostrom going to the dressing room for repairs was the nifty touch pass Fleury sent to Jay Bouwmeester to start a rush. It's a subtle play, but passing was not Calgary's strong suit during the past couple of seasons.

Unfortunately, when Bouwmeester moved the puck again, it ricocheted off a defender's stick and hit Sjostrom in the face.

- One lesson players hopefully will take from skating with Fleury is his patience with the puck. Nobody on the team appears to enjoy holding onto the biscuit for that extra moment in the offensive zone more than Fleury. It's a reason he collected more than 1,000 NHL points, and helps set up scoring chances.

Looked bad ...

- Not that he's the only player who's had to redo a drill, but Fleury was singled out after passing to the wrong defenceman on a breakout. He was also a tad slow catching up to the play, which is the biggest thing he'll need to work on. A fear is he doesn't have the acceleration needed in today's NHL.

Overall ...

Looks like he's won over his teammates, if there were any doubters. Everybody is hoping for the best when he plays tonight.

"I think I'm probably more excited than he is from talking to him in the room," Langkow said. "It's been a few years, but he's played in this league a long time, and it should be good."
