1979-80 -- Head coach of OHL's Peterborough Petes. Lost in Memorial Cup final.

1980-83 -- Head coach of AHL's Rochester Americans. Won Calder Cup in 1983.

1983-84 -- Head coach at University of Toronto. Won CIS national championship.

1984 to May 1988 -- Head coach of Philadelphia Flyers. Lost in Stanley Cup finals in 1985 and '87. Fired.

June 1988 to November 1992 -- Head coach of Chicago Blackhawks. Lost in Stanley Cup finals in 1992. Quit after contract squabble.

April 1993 to July 1994 -- Head coach of New York Rangers. Won Stanley Cup. Declared himself a "free agent" after Rangers missed bonus payment.

July 1994 to Dec. 1997 -- Head coach/GM of St. Louis Blues. Never advanced past second round. Fired.

Nov. 1997 to Jan. 1999 -- Head coach of Vancouver Canucks. Also briefly served as GM. Missed playoffs both seasons. Fired.

Oct. 2000 to April 2001 -- Head coach of Boston Bruins. Missed playoffs. Contract wasn't renewed.

Dec. 2001 to Nov. 2003 -- Head coach of Florida Panthers. Missed playoffs twice. Fired.

May 2004 to Sept. 2006 -- GM of Florida Panthers. Missed playoffs both seasons. Resigned.

June 2007 to yesterday -- Head coach of Calgary Flames. Eliminated in first round both seasons. Fired.
