Maybe handing that goal-scoring title to Michael Cammalleri isn't a sure thing.

Not the way Jarome Iginla has been lighting the lamp the past few weeks.

The Calgary captain's scoring prowess has taken a back seat to Olli Jokinen's fantastic offensive output in his first two weeks as a Flame, but Iginla has methodically reeled in Cammalleri.

Not long ago, it seemed somebody other than Iginla would be the club's top sniper for the first time since Val Bure was the main man back in the 1999-2000 season.

Recently, though, Iginla has regained his scoring touch, which may make for a fun sidebar the rest of the season.

"I'd like to be on fire, but I'd like him to be on fire, too," Iginla said of Cammalleri.

"We don't talk about how many goals I'm back of him. We just both would like to be scoring.

"I'd love to score 50 and love him to score 51. It would only be good things."

It'll take a miracle for either to reach the 50-goal milestone, but 40 isn't out of reach. For a while, though, Iginla appeared hard-pressed to reach 30.

Before the Feb. 17 game against Vancouver, Game 59 of the season, Cammalleri led the way with 29 goals. Iginla had netted only 20.

Heading into Wednesday's game against the Dallas Stars, Cammalleri's goal total sits at 34. Iginla has 31 and appears to be on the verge of blowing past his teammate.

"I hope he does," Cammalleri said.

"It's great to see the puck going in for him.

"I'm more than happy to see him going like this. I hope he scores two a game every game for the rest of the year. I'd be happy to see that."

Technically, Jokinen is also in the mix, and with eight goals in six games as a Flame to reach 29.

To see Iginla crank it up like he has -- 11 goals in 13 games, including nine in eight outings at one point in this spree -- is nothing new to Flames followers. But it is to Cammalleri, albeit no surprise.

"Don't forget, I've known Craig Conroy for years, so I've heard all about Jarome," he said with a grin.

"I hope he goes 20 in 20 and finishes that way. I really do. It would be great to see, awesome."
