1. Dustin Boyd, Flames -- Took lots of extra ice time and scored his 10th goal.
2. Adrian Aucoin, Flames -- Went from goat to hero with his game-winning goal.
3. Owen Nolan, Wild -- The grizzled vet didn't score but has some bite to his game.
PENALTY KILL: A
WHY FLAMES WON
Because they regrouped after going down a goal in the second period, and because they scored on their chance in overtime, while the Wild couldn't do the same.
GOAL OF THE GAME
It wasn't pretty, but D Adrian Aucoin's bank-shot game winner was the tonic his club needed against the suffocating Wild. With Vancouver also winning, the Flames needed a victory to stay eight points ahead.
SAVE OF THE GAME
Late in the first period and the Flames ahead 1-0, the Wild's Antti Miettinen was the opportunistic one who pounced on a loose puck in the slot and sent a backhand that was headed for the top corner. Miikka Kiprusoff reached out and made the trapper stop.
CALGARY -- C Daymond Langkow (hand), LW Andre Roy (head), C Wayne Primeau (foot), D Rhett Warrener (shoulder).
MINNESOTA -- RW Marian Gaborik (hip), RW Craig Weller (concussion), D Kurtis Foster (leg), LW Derek Boogaard.
Tomorrow: Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers, 8 p.m., CBC, FAN 960.
