Flames storylines to watch

1. The defence bests: A healthy Canucks blueline helped shut the Flames out in the opener, while Calgary was missing its best rearguard in Robyn Regehr. Watch to see how they play with the big blueliner in the lineup, or how the rest of the group recovers should Regehr miss a second straight game as he prepares to become a dad for the first time.

2. Fists of fury: Things got rough in the third period Thursday night, and you know the Flames are going to do their best to get their game off to an emotional start. To get things rolling their way last season, they often engaged in early fisticuffs, so don't be surprised to see Jim Vandermeer or Andre Roy -- or Jarome Iginla, for that matter -- drop the gloves early.

3. Lines of fire: There appeared to be little or no chemistry taking place between the trios assembled by Mike Keenan, so you have to wonder who will start the next game together? Does he reunite the pre-season combo of Todd Bertuzzi, Mike Cammalleri and Matthew Lombardi? Will Daymond Langkow and Iginla get together?
