BANFF -- When Jamie Lundmark was traded for Craig Conroy back in January 2007, Calgary fans were certain that would be the last they'd seen of him in a Flames sweater.

Quite possibly the last they'd seen of him in the NHL.

Lundmark was placed on waivers yesterday in preparation for being sent to the minors as early as today. But a strong training camp likely earned him the distinction of being on speed dial should injuries force the club to summon a forward.

In six pre-season outings, the 27-year-old, drafted ninth overall in 1999, collected one goal and one assist.

He's on a two-way contract signed this past off-season -- which put him behind the eight ball considering the club has 13 forwards inked to one-way deals and Dustin Boyd to fit onto the roster.

However, Lundmark showed over the training camp he's progressed from being a one-dimensional player who thought offence first.

"I've tweaked my game and worked on what I really needed to do to get back to the NHL," he said. "I think I've played pretty much the way I wanted this whole camp."
