Goalies

Miikka Kiprusoff: B+

Wasn't tested often and had a couple of close calls but put in a solid half game in his first pre-season appearance of '08.

Curtis McElhinney: B

More active than Kiprusoff. Was beat on a perfectly placed shot, but made solid saves.

Defence

Adrian Aucoin: A-

Big hit on Daniel Carcillo set tone for his game. Assertive physically and in pursuit of puck.

Jim Vandermeer: B+

Hasn't stood out for the wrong reasons. Perfectly played a one-on-one with speedy Enver Lisin bearing down.

Robyn Regehr: B+

Strong, steady night by lynchpin defensive defender. Spent good chunk of ice time killing penalties effectively.

John Negrin: B

Only one glaring mistake, which is a big key for a 19-year-old d-man likely headed back to junior. Has patience with puck.

Anders Eriksson: B

Better performance than first pre-season outing. Cut down on giveaways.

Cory Sarich: C-

One penalty a dubious call, but another was unnecessary roughing and another was because he was standing still.

Forwards

John Armstrong: A

First-year pro had strong game playing on consecutive nights, building on good early shifts and strong penalty killing.

Matthew Lombardi: A

Really used his speed on top line with Bertuzzi and Iginla. Showed great patience on his goal after picking up rebound.

Michael Cammalleri: A-

After slow start in his first pre-season action as a Flame, found second gear. Great to see him being used on point on PP.

Brett Sutter: A-

Willingness to get nose dirty can't be overlooked, even willing to go eye-to-eye with cement-head Daniel Carcillo.

Kris Chucko: A-

'04 first-rounder didn't play much but made the most of it.

Todd Bertuzzi: A-

Much more effective outing than first night in Flames sweater. Maybe he and Iginla will find top-line chemistry together.

Jarome Iginla: B+

Was being set up from anywhere and everywhere by linemates. Playing with Lombardi has him moving more.

Eric Nystrom: B+

Could even be a bit higher if he had more ice time.

Andre Roy: B+

The big guy showed pretty soft hands on his goal.

Warren Peters: B

Half of his time was spent killing penalties. Won the vast majority of his faceoffs.

Curtis Glencross: B-

Showing his speed in bursts but didn't show the top gear he's advertised to possess.

Mikael Backlund: C+

Had more comfortable game after pedestrian beginning, but too many giveaways and soft passes.
