Despite nothing on the line for his team, Roberto Luongo got the start in goal for the Vancouver Canucks last night.

At the other end, it was Curtis Joseph suiting up for the final Flames game of the regular season.

Calgary had hopes of moving up to the sixth seed and drawing a first-round matchup with the Minnesota Wild, but even a win didn't guarantee leapfrogging Colorado, which needs just a point in today's game against the Wild to lock up the No. 6 spot.

"We talked it over as a staff and we decided to put Curtis in the net," said head coach Mike Keenan. "It'll be good for Curtis to play, because you never know what's going to happen in the future. To help him stay ready. That's important to us."

His fifth start of the season gives him a chance to get sharp before the playoffs in the event something happens to starter Miikka Kiprusoff, but it also guarantees Kiprusoff will get to the post-season without any injury.
