1. Alex Tanguay, Flames -- More than just a goal on the night. A big part of what was the team's best line.

2. Niklas Hagman, Stars -- Could have had a few goals instead of just the one if not for Miikka Kiprusoff.

3. Mike Smith, Star -- Outstanding job in net by the rookie, who made several big stops on the Flames in the third period.

UNSUNG HERO

Eric Nystrom can take the bow for all the Calgary penalty killers. Dallas entered the game with the NHL's fourth best powerplay at 23%, but managed only one shot on its first three man-advantage opportunities.

SAVE OF THE GAME

Early in the second period during a Flames powerplay, Calgary's Jarome Iginla was fed a brilliant cross-crease pass by Daymond Langkow and looked like he had a sure thing, but Dallas netminder Mike Smith stuck out his left leg in time to make the highlight-reel stop.

GOAL OF THE GAME

Calgary's Matthew Lombardi picked a pretty way to snap his goal-scoring drought at 12 games. He entered the offensive zone with a head of steam, juked to back off the defenceman as he skated wide and then ripped a top-corner shot past Mike Smith to put the Flames up 2-1.
