COMING IN

Calgary is coming off a 5-2 victory last night in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Blues dropped Vancouver 3-1 Friday night to return to their winning ways after dropping their previous contest in Detroit. St. Louis has five wins in six outings.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This is the first of four clashes, and it's a series the Flames have dominated in recent history. The Flames won all four games last season and have a 9-0-1 record in their last 10 encounters.

WHO'S HOT

FLAMES -- C Matthew Lombardi netted a goal and an assist last night giving him seven tallies and 16 points on the year.

BLUES -- It's fun to make fun of the Maple Leafs on this one. RW Brad Boyes has scored 12 goals to go with five helpers this season.

WHO'S NOT

FLAMES -- LW Alex Tanguay has gone four games without a point.

BLUES -- C Doug Weight has not scored a goal yet this season and has five assists.

SPECIAL TEAMS (Prior to last night)

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 15.7% (16-102, 20th); St. Louis 13.8% (13-94, 26th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 77% (29th); St. Louis 90.7% (1st).

INJURIES

FLAMES -- C/LW Marcus Nilson (concussion) is day to day, while C/LW Wayne Primeau (ankle) is out.

BLUES -- C David Backes (knee) is out. D Eric Brewer (back) missed last game but is probable.

NOTABLES

Seeing as St. Louis has such a good record, it is surprising they've only outscored their opposition by a 49-46 margin ... Calgary's woeful road powerplay could be in a for a tough night. The Blues have an incredible 96.2% kill rate at home in 11 games, surrendering only two goals in 53 shorthanded situations ... Calgary has one win and one loss when playing the second half of back-to-back nights this season ... Over their last 12 games, the Blues have registered more than 25 shots on goal only twice.
