A bad start and a bad break in the final two minutes sent the Flames to a 3-2 defeat against the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night at the 'Dome.

Vancouver opened its season last night by hosting the San Jose Sharks. The Canucks went 4-2-2 in the pre-season, and beat the Flames twice.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Canucks won the Northwest Division, but the Flames won the season series last year, going 4-3-1 against Vancouver's 4-4 record.

They split at the 'Dome. The Flames lead the all-time series 110-66-33-4.
