GOALTENDER

Miikka Kiprusoff: Rebounded valiantly after he surrendered goals on the first two shots. Made several key stops to pull team back in. A-

DEFENCEMEN

Dion Phaneuf: Reined in some of his exuberance and played better positionally. Had probably his best game of the exhibition season. B

Cory Sarich: Smart pinch for a good scoring chance in the second period. His strong penalty killing will help the Flames immensely. B+

Anders Eriksson: Average game. Made some strong plays but also mishandled the puck a few times. C

David Hale: Didn't pick up the man in front of the net on Sharks' second goal. Struggled at times. C-

Robyn Regehr: Caught up ice on the Sharks' first goal. Rebounded for his best game of the pre-season. C+

Rhett Warrener: A couple of defensive zone giveaways didn't come back to haunt him. Was bailed out of a costly penalty in the third. C

FORWARDS

Stephane Yelle: Usual steady self on the penalty killing unit and was very strong on faceoffs. C+

Owen Nolan: Helped the Flames get back into the game with his physical presence. Recorded four hits through the first two periods. B-

Jarome Iginla: Give-and-go goal with Kristian Huselius showed he can be the playmaker. Logging a ton of ice time under Mike Keenan. B-

Eric Godard: Handily won a scrap with Doug Murray. Otherwise, didn't see too much icetime. C+

Wayne Primeau: Robbed of a goal when Marc-Edouard Vlasic blocked his shot on an empty net with an outstretched stick. Strong game. B

Kristian Huselius: Calgary's best player offensively. Drew penalties, scored a pair of goals and had a few other chances. A

Daymond Langkow: His forecheck in the corner led to Huselius' second goal of the game. A typical steady game. B

Craig Conroy: Had his best pre-season game, too. May have found a niche playing on a line with Owen Nolan and Wayne Primeau. B

David Moss: Still battling to find his form. A handful of solid shifts but not seeing second-line icetime. C

Marcus Nilson: Playing with a noticeable jump that wasn't there last season, in big part due to his knee injury. A quiet night. C+

Dustin Boyd: Wasn't able to see much icetime compared to previous pre-season clashes. Stole a couple of pucks with his speed and was given some penalty killing time. C+

Brett Sutter: Came back to play defence perfectly when a teammate was caught up ice. Blocked a shot when caught on the ice on the PK. B-
