Kudos to Darryl Sutter and the Calgary Flames for taking care of business when it comes to keeping young prospects in the fold.

The general manager officially announced yesterday the signing of four more members of the 2005 draft class, which will help bolster the organizational depth of both the blueline and the blue paint in the crease for years.

In the salary-cap era, youth is more important than ever in the NHL. Since Sutter arrived to take control of the Flames, he has been laying the groundwork for a youth movement that could come as early as next season with a handful of jobs up for grabs in training camp.

The Omaha Knights' division title in the team's second season is proof of stability on the farm -- wherever that club happens to play next year. The big-leaguers have made the playoffs for three straight campaigns after a terrible drought.

The future is bright for the Flames franchise.
