SUN THREE STARS
1. Kristian Huselius, Flames -- A goal and an assist from the talented forward.
2. Nicklas Lidstrom, Red Wings -- Ice-time machine assisted on Wings' goal.
3. Daymond Langkow, Flames -- Opened the scoring for the second straight game.
Marcus Nilson had an outstanding game, as did the rest of the Grind Line, Stephane Yelle and Jeff Friesen.
WHY FLAMES WON
Because they outworked the Wings and limited Detroit's puck possession game.
The game tied 1-1 late in the second, Detroit's Kyle Calder had an easy goal, just needing to slide it into an open cage with Miikka Kiprusoff down and out, but Roman Hamrlik blocked it with his stick.
Usually the Flames are victims of late-period goals. This time, late in the second, Kristian Huselius was set up perfectly by Alex Tanguay for the go-ahead powerplay tally.
