CALGARY FLAMES (37-22-10)
COLORADO AVALANCHE (34-29-6)
The Flames gave up a two-goal lead in the third period but killed off a penalty in overtime to force a shootout to come away with a 5-4 win for a valuable extra point Monday night. Miikka Kiprusoff was especially strong in the shootout to earn his 100th win as a Flame.
Colorado is 10 points behind Calgary in the standings and clinging to hope for that final playoff seed in the Western Conference. The Avs fell 3-2 in overtime against the Wild in Minnesota Sunday to snap a season-high five-game winning streak.
The two met three times last month but the Avalanche had the upper hand with a pair of wins, one at the 'Dome and another at home a few days later. The Flames hold a 3-2 edge on the year and will close out their regular season in Colorado April 8.
FLAMES -- LW Kristian Huselius had a goal, his 30th of the season, and three assists to pace the Flames Monday.
AVALANCHE -- C Paul Stastny is looking to extend his new NHL rookie record 18-game point streak.
