The jury is still out and may be stuck deliberating for a while.
Weighing trades is difficult anytime but even more so when you take contract status into consideration.
In the case of Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew for Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau, there is still a lot of uncertainty.
Stuart and Primeau are both pending unrestricted free agents, while Kobasew is signed for another year and Ference is under contract until 2010.
But both new Calgary Flames are hesitant to talk about their future as they continue to deal with the swap that sent them into Flaming Cs.
"We'll see. We'll take it day by day. It's still early, I'm still thinking about being traded here," said Primeau after playing 16:30 during the Flames' 7-4 loss in Detroit yesterday.
"I'm excited about the opportunity of making the playoffs and doing well. Fans in Calgary are great and I look forward to playing in front of them."
Stuart is the key in the trade.
He's 27 and will be a top-four defender for many years to come. Whether or not the Rocky Mountain House native chooses to spend them in his home province, though, remains to be seen.
"That's not something I've even had a chance to think about yet. We'll see how it plays out," said Stuart.
"That's probably going to be put on the backburner for now. My focus is going to be to help this team, make this team better and go from there."
