While the Calgary Flames soared to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night, two of their fans plummeted from the considerable height of the Pengrowth Saddledome's upper levels.
Calgary EMS responded to a call during Saturday's hockey game after two men fell from the balcony of an upper tier of seats and into a crowd of spectators watching the game below.
EMS spokesman Hans Marechaux said three people suffered minor injuries in the incident, with one, a 25-year-old male, transported to Foothills hospital with a broken ankle.
Police Insp. Guy Slater said the fall was accidental, with one man who'd had too much to drink grabbing onto the arm of a friend to break a stumble -- which sent both hockey fans plummeting an estimated 10 to 12 feet.
A woman seated in the crowd below suffered minor injuries.
No charges were laid in the incident.
