CANUCKS 3 FLAMES 2

SUN THREE STARS

1. Brendan Morrison, Canucks. Another two-point game for a Vancouverite against the Flames.

2. Matthew Lombardi, Flames. Two goals for the most dangerous Flame.

3. Ryan Kesler, Canucks. Was a physical presence on the forecheck all game.

UNSUNG HERO

Willie Mitchell, Canucks. A strong game from the big defenceman.

WHY THE FLAMES LOST

Because they surrendered another two-goal deficit to the Canucks -- it's the fourth time in six meetings this year that's happened -- they couldn't claw their way back.

BIG GOAL

Alex Burrows' second-period tally with less than five minutes left in the second period restored a two-goal edge for the Canucks and stemmed the tide when the Flames were trying to mount a comeback.

FIGHT CARD

Andrew Ference was handed a double-minor -- two for wearing a visor and another deuce for instigating -- along with a 10-minute misconduct when he went after Kevin Bieksa after the Canucks defenceman slashed/speared a teammate celebrating a Calgary goal. Ference held his own against the bigger Bieksa.

BURNING QUESTION

What is it about the Canucks on Saddledome ice? They're the only team that seems capable of coming here and winning.

WHAT IT MEANS

With Minnesota also winning, the Flames fall to third in the Northwest Division and eighth in the Western Conference.
