COMING IN

Calgary celebrated New Year's Eve with a 4-2 win over archrival Edmonton, the second straight victory to start a six-game homestand.

Vancouver followed its post-Christmas home-and-home sweep of the Flames by thumping Edmonton 6-2 Saturday. It's only the second time this season the Canucks have won three in a row.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This is sixth meeting of the season -- the third in eight days -- with Vancouver holding a slight edge. The Canucks have won the last three, one in OT, after Calgary took the first two. Vancouver's Boxing Day win snapped the Flames' 10-game home-ice winning streak.

WHO'S HOT

FLAMES -- Jarome Iginla sits tied for third in the NHL scoring race with 52 points. He's currently riding a three-game point spree, with two goals and six assists. Kristian Huselius isn't far behind, with four goals and two helpers in three games.

CANUCKS -- Daniel Sedin has a four-game run of his own in which he's potted six goals and three assists. Twin Henrik has seven points in that spell.

WHO'S NOT

FLAMES -- Jeff Friesen has yet to score as a Flame. He has suited up in 29 games and has only two assists.

CANUCKS -- Markus Naslund hasn't scored in the last 14 games.

INJURY REPORT

FLAMES -- LW Marcus Nilson (knee), RW Darren McCarty (hip) and D Richie Regehr (head) are out.

CANUCKS -- LW Alex Burrows (hip) is day-to-day. C Rick Rypien (groin) and C Tommi Santala (knee) are out.

NOTABLES

Former Flames LW Jeff Cowan was claimed off waivers from Los Angeles and fought Edmonton's Jean-Francois Jacques in his Canucks debut ... Rory Fitzpatrick, he of the internet-backed bid for an all-star berth, collected his first point of the season against the Oilers.
