CANUCKS 6 FLAMES 5 (OT)

SUN THREE STARS

1. Matt Cooke, Canucks -- Helped force overtime with a goal and assist in the second.

2. Kristian Huselius, Flames -- Responded with two goals after being promoted to the top line.

3. Sami Salo, Canucks -- Slapped home the OT winner.

UNSUNG HERO

Daniel Sedin owned the Flames defence for the second straight night before being shut down in the latter stages.

WHY THE FLAMES LOST

Despite outshooting the Canucks 28-7 over the final 40 minutes, they couldn't steal the game away thanks to a couple of fortunate bounces for Vancouver.

HARD HIT

Matt Cooke gave David Moss one of those welcome-to-the-bigs hits in the first period. The Flames rookie had his head down and caught a shoulder to the chest.

FIGHT CARD

None.

BURNING QUESTION

Is Miikka Kiprusoff getting a little tired from his heavy workload?

WHAT IT MEANS

A giant leap in the Western Conference standings for the Canucks and a four-way tie for second for the Flames.

NOTABLES

The call-up carousel continued yesterday as C Dustin Boyd and D Brad Ference were brought back up from Omaha with Richie Regehr and Darren McCarty ailing after Tuesday's game.
