Game over

RANDY SPORTAK -- Calgary Sun

DUCKS 5 FLAMES 3

SUN THREE STARS

1. Teemu Selanne, Ducks -- A goal for a milestone point and should have had more.

2. Kristian Huselius, Flames -- Two goals, both drawing his team even.

3. Chris Pronger, Ducks -- His great pass set up Selanne's goal and had several chances himself.

UNSUNG HERO

Samuel Pahlsson, Ducks -- Scored the game's first goal, was masterful in the faceoff circle and checking Calgary's top line.

WHY THE FLAMES LOST

Because the team supposed to be the better team was the better team. The Flames have no excuses -- backup goalie between the pipes, having played the night before, etc. -- they were outplayed.

HUGE HIT

Another game, another Dion Phaneuf cruncher. The Flames defenceman rocked Travis Moen in the neutral zone with a bone-crusher, one of the few in the game, though.

SCRATCHES

CALGARY -- D Rhett Warrener (hip) was out. Same with C Stephane Yelle (ankle).

DUCKS -- G Jean-Sebastien Giguere (lower body) joined G Ilya Bryzgalov (lower body) on the sidelines. Isn't it early for these games about injuries? Sat was C Travis Green.

FIGHT CARD

Darren McCarty fought George Parros and his porn-star 'stache. Give the decision to Parros.

Chuck Kobasew took on the taller Corey Perry after being hit in the back. Give Kobasew the fight.

BURNING QUESTION

Will having five of six at home help the Flames vault over a few teams?

WHAT IT MEANS

After losing three of four, the Flames are back to .500 at 10-10-2 and a wasted game in hand on the rest of the division.

UP NEXT

Flames vs. Avalanche, tomorrow, 7 p.m., Sportsnet, FAN 960.
