Game over

RANDY SPORTAK -- Calgary Sun

FLAMES 3 BLUES 0

SUN THREE STARS

1. Daymond Langkow, Flames. The first goal, a great pass on what should have been another.

2. Alex Tanguay, Flames. Great pass, robbed of a sure goal.

3. Mikka Kiprusoff, Flames. Made 24 saves for the shutout.

UNSUNG HERO

Roman Hamrlik continues to log big minutes and is being more physical.

WHY THE FLAMES WON

Miikka Kiprusoff won the battle of the goaltenders and his teammates finally rewarded him with some insurance in the third period.

BIG SAVE

Video replay couldn't prove it was in, so Blues starter Curtis Sanford deserves credit. Sanford pulled his groin on the play but denied Alex Tanguay with an incredible glove save. The puck may have crossed the line but it couldn't be overturned.

FIGHT CARD

Darren McCarty and Bryce Salvador in the opening minutes. Call it a draw.

BURNING QUESTION

Can the Flames continue to ride Miikka Kiprusoff's great goaltending and score enough timely goals to beat Detroit Friday?

WHAT IT MEANS

A fifth win in a row which puts the Flames above .500.

NOTABLE

Before the game, Flames part-owner Harley Hotchkiss was lauded for his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame and play-by-play voice Peter Maher was honoured for receiving the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award from the Hall of Fame.
