Game Day

RANDY SPORTAK -- Calgary Sun

COMING IN:

A miserable effort in a 4-1 loss to San Jose Monday put the Flames back below .500.

After beating Toronto in their season-opener, the Sens have been blasted by Toronto and then lost 4-3 to Buffalo Saturday night.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

In the lone meeting last season, Calgary's Daymond Langkow notched the game winner in OT for a 2-1 victory. Calgary sports a 9-9-4 mark all-time but has only two wins in 10 meetings out east.

WHO'S HOT

FLAMES -- Other than head coach Jim Playfair over his team's last effort? It's a stretch but we'll go with Alex Tanguay, who scored his first goal as a Flame against the Sharks.

SENATORS -- Late last game, Ottawa reunited its line of Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson to big results. In the third period against the Sabres, Spezza scored twice, with both goals assisted by the other two.

WHO'S NOT

FLAMES -- Chuck Kobasew, Matthew Lombardi and Tony Amonte have all failed to collect a point yet.

SENATORS -- The under-rated Mike Fisher has no points and is a minus-two through three games.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 4% (1-25, 27th); Ottawa 5.3% (1-19, T-23rd).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 75% (T-24th); Ottawa 83.3% (T-20th).
