Calgary Flames fans may be able to boo one of their favourite targets, Todd Bertuzzi, sooner than expected.

The Florida Panthers, who acquired the mercurial former Vancouver Canuck draft-day weekend, will be first on the docket when the Flames open their pre-season schedule Sept. 17 at the Saddledome.

Florida's lineup also may include former Flames Joe Nieuwendyk, Gary Roberts and Martin (The Eliminator) Gelinas.

The Panthers, who are holding their training camp in Vail, Colo., will play in Edmonton the next night.

Florida is also scheduled to play a regular- season game here Jan. 4, 2007.

Calgary's seven-game pre-season slate opens with three of four games at home.

Vancouver visits two nights after the opener and the Edmonton Oilers come calling Sept. 21. The Flames also host the San Jose Sharks Sept. 27. The Flames conclude their pre-season with back-to-back games in Vancouver and San Jose.

Calgary opens the 2006-07 regular season in Edmonton Oct. 5 before returning two nights later to host the Oilers.
