Yeah, baby -- Peter Maher is going to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The voice of the Calgary Flames, with his trademark "Yeah, Baby!" will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Nov. 13 in Toronto as the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winner.

And the 58-year-old couldn't believe it when he got a message yesterday from Bill Hay, chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

"I really had no inkling this was afoot at all," said Maher.

"I was kind of shocked. I'm not so sure I'm worthy of this."

Maher, who began his NHL broadcasting career in Toronto in 1978 before coming to Calgary for the 1980-81 season, has called about 2,800 contests during his career.

But there's one in particular that stands out, back on this day in 1989 -- when the Flames won the Stanley Cup.
