COMING IN:

The Flames (37-20-8) fell 3-2 in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place Thursday but gave themselves a two-point lead over idle Colorado in the battle for the Northwest Division title. Earlier in the week, they split a back-to-back, home-and-home series with the Avs with both winning on their own turf.

The Predators (39-19-8), trapped in the fourth seed despite being four points ahead of Calgary, are coming off shutout wins at home over Vancouver and Phoenix. The Preds sit nine points behind the Detroit Red Wings in the Central Division.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

So far, the Preds have been feasting on the Flames. Nashville has won all three meetings this season, including a pair at the Saddledome. Calgary was shut out by Vokoun in a 2-0 loss in Nashville Nov. 29 and fell a goal short in 4-3 and 3-2 decisions at the 'Dome.

WHO'S HOT:

FLAMES -- C Daymond Langkow didn't appear on the scoresheet in Thursday's loss but he blocked a team-high four shots and won 66% of his faceoffs.

PREDATORS -- G Tomas Vokoun doubled his shutout total with a pair this week to four on the season. The Czech is 5-0-2 since the Olympic break.

- - -

WHO'S NOT:

FLAMES -- F Tony Amonte's goal drought has now reached 20 games.

PREDATORS -- C David Legwand, who scored a pair against the Flames March 7, is pointless in his last three contests.

- - -

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 17.7% (67-379,15th); Nashville 18.2% (74-407, 11th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 83.7% (65-398, 11th); Nashville 85.5% (62-428, 4th).

- - -

INJURIES:

FLAMES -- D Rhett Warrener (knee) is out indefinitely. F Mike Leclerc (hand/wrist) is day-to-day.

PREDATORS -- C Vernon Fiddler (concussion) and D Danny Markov (ankle) are day-to-day. C Yanic Perreault (knee) and D Mark Eaton (knee) are week-to-week. Right wing Scott Walker (wrist) is out indefinitely.

NOTABLES:

Winger F Mike Leclerc returned to Calgary for X-rays on his wrist after taking an awkward fall during Thursday's game in Edmonton. If nothing serious shows up in the tests, Leclerc will rejoin the team in Nashville before tonight's game ... C Daymond Langkow blocked four shots Thursday in Edmonton. One of them, he took on the left hand, which looked a little swollen yesterday ... Born on St. Patrick's Day, defenceman Andrew Ference celebrated his 27th birthday yesterday. Much of it was spent travelling from Edmonton to Nashville via bus and plane but at least he didn't have to lace up the skates.
