CALGARY FLAMES AT EDMONTON OILERS

TONIGHT AT 7 P.M., TV: SPORTSNET, RADIO: FAN 960

COMING IN:

By scoring four goals for the first time in nine games, the Flames avenged their loss a day earlier to Colorado with a 4-3 win over the Avalanche Monday. The Flames are 7-3 in their last 10.

Edmonton salvaged a terrible road trip by beating the Minnesota Wild 2-1 in St. Paul Tuesday night. On the journey, the Oilers lost in San Jose, in Columbus (in OT) and in Minnesota.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

The Flames have held the upper hand on the Oilers this season, posting a 4-1-1 mark against their provincial rivals, and winning the last two clashes. Dating back to halfway through the 2002-03 season, the Flames have won 11 times, lost in regulation twice, tied once and been defeated twice in overtime/shootouts.

WHO'S HOT:

* FLAMES -- Jarome Iginla is coming off a two-goal game against the Avs and has scored five goals in six games in March.

* OILERS -- Chris Pronger has followed up his disappointing Olympics by netting four goals and four assists in eight games since the break.

WHO'S NOT:

* FLAMES -- Tony Amonte had a goal disallowed to extend his goal-scoring drought to 19 games.

* OILERS -- Jarret Stoll has but one goal in the last 10 games.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 18% (67-372, 13th); Edmonton 18.4% (75-408, 10th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 83.7% (11th); Edmonton 18% (14th).

INJURIES:

* FLAMES -- D Roman Hamrlik (hand) may return. D Rhett Warrener (knee) is out.

* OILERS -- None.

NOTABLES:

The Flames wouldn't say when Roman Hamrlik would return to the lineup but it's worth noting the defenceman was part of the first powerplay unit in yesterday's practice, with Dion Phaneuf manning the other point, and Jarome Iginla, Daymond Langkow and Kristian Huselius up front ... Newly acquired Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson played in the last four games, and allowed 14 goals while posting a 2-1-1 mark ... Edmonton has been outscored 68-55 in the first period and 72-65 in the second period but holds a 83-62 edge in the final frame ... Ty Conklin, Rem Murray, Dick Tarnstrom, Igor Ulanov and Marc-Andre Bergeron were Edmonton's scratches last outing ... Edmonton will wear its third jersey tonight and has gone 3-4-1 in those togs this season ... Mike Leclerc again appears to be the odd-man out based on yesterday's practice.
