NASHVILLE PREDATORS AT CALGARY FLAMES

TONIGHT AT 7 P.M., TV: PAY-PER-VIEW, RADIO: FAN 960

COMING IN:

The Flames have won two straight at home against the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks. Calgary has a two-point lead over Vancouver in the Northwest Division with three games in hand and are third in the conference.

The Preds lost 3-2 to the Oilers in overtime at Rexall Place Sunday afternoon and sit fourth in the Western Conference with the same points total (77) as the Flames.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

The Predators have the upper hand so far this season with a 4-3 win at the 'Dome in December and a 2-0 shutout over Calgary in Nashville in November. Nashville has won three straight against the Flames and holds a 5-2-3 record against Calgary in its last 10 contests.

WHO'S HOT:

FLAMES -- F Chris Simon and F Shean Donovan both have five points in their last six games. Simon has three goals in that span, while Donovan four assists. Of course, G Miikka Kiprusoff has been stellar since the Olympic break, allowing just three goals over three games. F Jarome Iginla also has three goals in his last two outings.

PREDATORS -- F Paul Kariya has points in his last two games and 11 in his last 10 (3g, 8a).

WHO'S NOT:

FLAMES -- F Kristian Huselius has done a lot of stickhandling but hasn't been able to create many scoring opportunities in recent games.

PREDATORS -- The Preds were hoping for a boost with the return of F David Legwand, who missed three months with a knee injury but he has been held scoreless with a minus-1 rating since the Olympic break and has been less than impressive on the draw.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 18% (64-356, 16th); Nashville 18.4% (71-386, 10th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 83.4% (62-373, 11th); Nashville 85.3% (58-395, 4th).

INJURIES:

FLAMES -- D Roman Hamrlik (hand) is out. F Kristian Huselius (flu) should return to the lineup tonight. F Byron Ritchie (knee) is practising with the team but remains on IR.

PREDATORS -- F Vernon Fiddler (concussion) is day-to-day. F Yanic Perreault (knee) and D Mark Eaton (knee) are out. F Scott Walker (wrist) is out indefinitely.

NOTABLES:

Before the Olympic break, goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff looked great. After the break, he has taken his game to another level, earning his league-leading seventh shutout of the season Saturday.
