ST. LOUIS BLUES AT CALGARY FLAMES

COMING IN:

Calgary came out of the Olympic break and promptly dropped a disappointing 2-1 decision to a Vancouver team missing its top three d-men.

The Blues won four of their last five before the break, with the lone blemish an OT defeat in Calgary. They played in Edmonton last night.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

Expect bonus action. The first two meetings this season went into OT, with the Blues claiming a shootout victory in St. Louis and the Flames winning a 3-2 overtime game Feb. 10.

Calgary has a 3-0-1 mark in the last four games against St. Louis.

WHO'S HOT :

* FLAMES -- His team isn't lighting the lamp but G Miikka Kiprusoff has been outstanding in allowing only 22 goals in his last 12 full games. His record in that spell is 7-3-2.

* BLUES -- Lee Stempniak had nine goals in his first 12 games with the Blues.

WHO'S NOT:

* FLAMES -- Jordan Leopold is still looking for his first goal and Tony Amonte's drought is at turn 13 games.

* BLUES -- Captain Dallas Drake went into last night's tilt having gone 22 games without a goal.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 18.3% (63-345, 13th); St. Louis 15.8% (58-368, 24th).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 82.8% (14th); St. Louis 81.1% (19th).

INJURIES:

* FLAMES -- D Roman Hamrlik (hand) is out. C Matthew Lombardi went to the bench in pain against Vancouver -- he appeared to be hit in the hand -- but returned. He didn't practise yesterday.

* BLUES -- C Petr Cajanek suffered a wrist injury at the Olympics. F Jeff Hoggan (collar bone), C Jamal Mayers (broken foot), D Eric Brewer (dislocated left shoulder) and G Jason Bacashihua (upper body) are out. D Bryce Salvador returned to the lineup against Edmonton after missing 10 games due to a shoulder injury.

NOTABLES:

G Brent Krahn, named the AHL player of the week a couple days ago, was named the league's goaltender of the month for February. The 2000 first-round draft choice posted a 7-2-0 record with a 1.71 GAA and .941 save percentage ... Calgary has scored powerplay goals in five straight games (8-for-29).
