ST. LOUIS BLUES AT FLAMES

TONIGHT AT 7 P.M., TV: PPV, RADIO: FAN 960

COMING IN:

Beating Anaheim 3-1 with three powerplay goals gives the Flames two-straight victories and a chance to run the table in the final week before the Olympic break.

Starting with their shootout win over the Flames Jan. 30, the Blues have won four of five, including the last three. On Wednesday, they dropped Vancouver for the third time this season.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

The first of four meetings this season saw unheralded rookie Lee Stempniak score both the game-tying and shootout clinching goals in a 3-2 St. Louis win. Calgary has dropped the last three tilts at the 'Dome and won only three of the last 10 home-ice clashes with the Blues.

WHO'S HOT:

FLAMES -- Matthew Lombardi, Chris Simon and Daymond Langkow have all scored goals in consecutive games.

BLUES -- Petr Cajanek comes into the game riding a five-game point streak with two goals and seven assists.

WHO'S NOT:

FLAMES -- Tony Amonte hasn't lit the lamp in 11 games.

BLUES -- Captain Dallas Drake has gone 20 games without a goal.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 18.3% (61-334, 13th); St. Louis 15.6% (56-258, 23rd).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 82.4% (14th); St. Louis 81.2% (20th).

INJURIES:

FLAMES -- C Byron Ritchie (knee) could return but will likely rest one more out before the break. D Roman Hamrlik (hand) and D Bryan Marchment (knee) are out.

BLUES -- D Eric Brewer (shoulder), RW Jamal Mayers (foot), RW Jeff Hoggan (collar bone), D Bryce Salvador (shoulder) and G Jason Bacashihua (shoulder) are all out. D Christian Backman (hip) is day-to-day.

NOTABLES:

Flames GM/head coach Darryl Sutter doesn't tip his hand on who his starting goalie will be but it's possible Brian Boucher will make his Flames debut. Boucher hasn't played an NHL game since Jan. 24, while Kiprusoff has started 18 of the last 19 games ... In their last six games, the Flames powerplay has clicked 10 times in 35 chances, a 28.6% success rate ... Blues goalie Curtis Sanford (back spasms) is expected to serve as backup to Patrick Lalime. Lalime stopped 19 of 20 shots against Vancouver, his first NHL game since Dec. 10 because he was briefly sent to the minors.
