Laraque feeling Flames burnout

EDMONTON -- Four meetings in the pre-season. Eight more in the regular season.

That's a lot of skirmishes in the Battle of Alberta. Maybe even too many, if you ask Oilers forward Georges Laraque.

"I think it's too much," he said prior to last night's 3-1 Flames win. "Yeah, it's great to have the Battle of Alberta but it's too much.

"You'd like the chance to see other teams instead of too much of the same ones. Sometimes it's seemed like they're only team we're playing."

Thanks to the new unbalanced scheduled, division rivals meet eight times and face the other 10 conference squads four times.

That leaves only 10 games against the other conference, five at home and five away. This season, Northwest Division squads don't meet the teams from the Southeast, including the Alexander Ovechkin-led Washington Capitals.

"You want a chance to see those other teams and fans do, too," Laraque said. "They want to see (Pittsburgh Penguins phenom) Sidney Crosby but there's so many (divisional) games you don't play those other teams."
