Game Over

RANDY SPORTAK -- Calgary Sun

, Last Updated: 8:01 AM ET

NEXT GAME: CALGARY FLAMES AT VANCOUVER CANUCKS TOMORROW AT 8 P.M., TV: CBC, RADIO: FAN 960

SUN THREE STARS:

1. Mike Cammalleri, Kings. Two goals to lead Kings' comeback.

2. Mathieu Garon, Kings. Held the fort after allowing two goals.

3. Dion Phaneuf, Flames. A pair of helpers for the rookie defenceman.

TURNING POINT:

Goals by Mike Cammalleri and Jeff Giuliano 27 seconds apart early in the third period erased Calgary's lead and put the Kings ahead to stay.

BIG SAVE:

Calgary was pushing late in the third but Mathieu Garon stoned Jarome Iginla on a one-timer from the doorstep.

HARD HIT:

It was a long, tough night for veteran Luc Robitaille. On top of his repeated trips to the sin bin -- four in the first two periods alone -- the Kings veteran was twice sent flying to the ice by Darren McCarty in the first period.

UNSUNG HERO:

Kings captain Mattias Norstrom blocked shots, killed penalties and did the job expected from a leader, especially with an injury-depleted squad. It was a heroic performance.

SCRATCHES:

* CALGARY -- D Roman Hamrlik (knee) , F Stephane Yelle (ankle), F Jason Wiemer (healthy scratch).

* LOS ANGELES -- F Craig Conroy (flu), F Eric Belanger (groin), F Jeremy Roenick (finger), F Jeff Cowan (hamstring), F Ryan Flinn (concussion) and F Valeri Bure (back).

BURNING QUESTION:

What's happened to Calgary's air-tight third-period defence?

WHAT IT MEANS:

A second straight loss and second-straight blown lead coming in the final 20 minutes. Not to mention a lost chance at important points in the tight Northwest Division standings.

NOTEWORTHY:

Miikka Kiprusoff was the November segment's Molson Cup winner and donated the $1,000 prize to the Alberta Children's Hospital. Steven Reinprecht was named runner-up and donated the $500 to the Shjon Podein Children's Foundation ... Kings goalie Mathieu Garon has started 16 of 20 games yet is still not the Kings No.-1 goalie. He went into the game winner of 11 of 15 games ... L.A.'s Jeff Giuliano's third-period goal was the first of his NHL career.
