DETROIT RED WINGS AT CALGARY FLAMES

TONIGHT AT 6:30 P.M., TV: TSN, RADIO: FAN 960

COMING IN:

Calgary exploded for a three-goal third period in a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild Monday night, which extended the Flames' winning streak to seven games. It's the team's longest win streak since an eight-game run in the middle of the 1992-93 season. Detroit dropped a 4-1 tilt Sunday night in Vancouver and is 4-2-1 during November. Still, the Red Wings lead the league standings with their 15-3-1 record.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

Thanks in big part to five powerplay goals, Detroit blitzed Calgary 6-3 in the first meeting of the season at the Joe Louis Arena during opening week.

The Flames have lost four straight regular season clashes against Detroit and are 1-7-0 in the last eight games.

At home, the Flames have an all-time record of 24-16-3 against Detroit, with six wins and four losses in the last 10 at the Saddledome.

WHO'S HOT:

FLAMES -- On a four-game scoring tear, Jarome Iginla has four goals and six assists.

WINGS -- Tomas Holmstrom has collected seven goals and two assists in the last six games.

WHO'S NOT:

FLAMES -- Shean Donovan received the hard hat last game but has still gone 18 games without a goal or even a point.

WINGS -- Who could have guessed Detroit would have such a good record at this point and Kris Draper would have only one goal and two assists to go with a minus-four rating?

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 15.2% (20-131, 23rd); Detroit 25% (29-116, 1st).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 79.8% (23rd); Detroit 87% (3rd).

INJURIES:

FLAMES -- C Matthew Lombardi (high ankle sprain) is alone on the shelf.

WINGS -- D Jason Woolley (groin) said he's ready to return after missing 10 games. D Niklas Krownwall (knee) is out.

NOTABLES:

Calgary's record of eight-straight wins has been reached twice -- in 1988-89 and in 1992-93. The franchise record is 10, set while the team was in Atlanta ... Three of the victories in this stretch have come despite trailing after two periods ... Iginla isn't the only Flame with a four-game point streak. Dion Phaneuf (2-4-6) is riding a wave that has bumped him to sixth among league rookies and tops among freshmen defencemen. By the way, nine of his 13 points have come on the powerplay ... The Flames have a 89% penalty kill at home, fifth best in the league.
