MINNESOTA WILD AT CALGARY FLAMES

TONIGHT AT 7 P.M., TV: NONE, RADIO: FAN 960

COMING IN:

Having lost in a shootout to San Jose Saturday -- blowing a late 2-0 lead in the process -- the Flames have dropped three in a row and four of five (1-3-1).

The Wild snapped a three-game losing skid (one of those came in a shootout) by beating Columbus 3-1 Saturday night.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

Thanks in big part to a three-goal performance by Marc Chouinard, Minnesota won the first of the eight-game series between the clubs, 6-3 on opening night.

Calgary leads the all-time series 10-6-4-2 and has a home mark of 5-2-3.

WHO'S HOT:

FLAMES -- Captain Jarome Iginla has a six-game scoring streak (3-3-6).

WILD -- With points in nine of the 12 games, Pierre-Marc Bouchard is the hottest of the Wild skaters (5-6-11). Goalie Manny Fernandez has the league's third-best goals against average (1.65).

WHO'S NOT:

FLAMES -- Jordan Leopold is leading the Flames with more than 24 minutes of ice time per game but still hasn't collected a point.

WILD -- Both D Nick Schultz and LW Stephane Veilleux have zeroes across the board despite playing a dozen games.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

POWERPLAY -- Calgary 12.3% (11-89, 27th); Minnesota 23.8% (15-63, 3rd).

PENALTY KILLING -- Calgary 75.5% (27th); Minnesota 93.3% (2nd).

INJURIES:

FLAMES -- D Robyn Regehr (knee) is inching closer, while C Matthew Lombardi (ankle) remains out. LW Chris Simon (rib muscle) and RW Darren McCarty (back/neck) are questionable.

WILD -- RW Marian Gaborik (hip flexor) returned for a few games from his groin injury but is now out, as is LW Derek Boogard (hip). LW Miikko Koivu (knee) is practising but not expected to make his NHL debut, while D Alex Henry (groin) is doubtful. C Wes Walz and C Randy Robitaille are both day-to-day with groin injuries.

NOTABLES:

Minnesota has a 1-2-2 road record but only surrendered one powerplay goal in 25 opportunities in those five outings ... With the rash of injured forwards, Minnesota D Brent Burns has been skating as a forward ... RW Kyle Wanvig, a Calgary product, will get to play in his hometown for the first time since his WHL days with Red Deer and Kootenay ... Calgary plays 10 of its next 12 at the Saddledome.
