1. Nolan Schaefer, San Jose -- Sharks goalie was the only reason his team had hope in the dying minutes.

2. Jarome Iginla, Calgary -- Great all night long, tipped Phaneuf's shot past Schaefer and scored the Flames' only shootout goal.

3. Scott Thornton, San Jose -- Threw big hits all night and helped prevent the Flames from creating too much in the Sharks' zone.

TURNING POINT:

Brad Stuart takes a shot from the off board with just seconds left in regulation. The puck caroms off the skate of Flames D Jordan Leopold and past Miikka Kiprusoff for the tying goal.

BIG SAVE:

Miikka Kiprusoff knocked away Scott Thornton's breakaway shot with his blocker early in the third period.

HARD HIT:

Sharks winger Scott Thornton hammered Roman Hamrlik into the boards in the opening minutes, leaving the Flames defenceman to gather his senses as he skated to the bench.

UNSUNG HERO:

Rhett Warrener has taken hit after hit during this road trip but continues to be a grounding force on defence.

SCRATCHES:

CALGARY -- D Robyn Regehr (knee) and Matthew Lombardi (ankle) are out indefinitely. F Chris Simon was scratched after being held out of morning practice. F Darren McCarty (neck) also sat.

SAN JOSE -- F Scott Parker (face), G Evgeni Nabokov (shoulder) and G Vesa Toskala (groin) are out indefinitely. C Mark Smith (knee) was hurt Friday. D Christian Ehrhoff was also scratched.
