Game Over

STEVE MACFARLANE -- Calgary Sun

, Last Updated: 7:54 AM ET

SUN THREE STARS:

1. Matthew Lombardi, Calgary -- Played the role of setup man on both Flames goals and put forth a grand effort.

2. Mike Modano, Dallas -- Enjoyed the open ice and was the playmaker for all three Stars scores.

3. Steven Reinprecht, Calgary -- Scored Calgary's first goal to get the home side back in it.

TURNING POINT:

Stars defenceman Philippe Boucher's wrister with less than a minute remaining in overtime beat G Miikka Kiprusoff on the glove side to end the Flames' comeback.

BIG SAVE:

Dallas' Marty Turco stopped Flames captain Jarome Iginla cold with a little more than four minutes left in the first period after a great setup from Chris Simon from behind the net.

HARD HIT:

It was early, during the first couple of minutes in fact, but rookie defenceman Dion Phaneuf's hit on Mike Modano in the corner boards left the Stars captain cleaning ice chips off his backside.

FIGHT CARD:

Shean Donovan and Stars pest Steve Ott got into a wrestling match, rolling around the ice in the Stars zone, about five minutes into the opening period. Once the pair got to their feet, they were too wrapped up to land any of the short punches thrown.

Dion Phaneuf dropped the gloves and cut Bill Guerin late in the second period after the Stars sniper swung at the 20-year-old near the blueline. Phaneuf won the decision unanimously.

SCRATCHES:

CALGARY -- D Steve Montador, C Byron Ritchie and W Jason Wiemer were healthy scratches. D Robyn Regehr (knee) is on injured reserve.

DALLAS -- Winger David Oliver was left out of the Stars lineup, while Mathias Tjarnqvist is on the injured list.

BURNING QUESTION:

When will the Flames put in a solid 60-minute effort?

WHAT IT MEANS:

The Flames get a point at home but fall to 1-3-0-1 on the season.
