G PHILIPPE SAUVE: Made 21 saves, many of the spectacular variety. He only helped his cause.
D DION PHANEUF: Blocked shots and played tough in front of the net.
D STEVE MONTADOR: Let his stick get away from him while pressuring Anson Carter and took a high-sticking penalty. Had an inconsistent 60 minutes.

LW TONY AMONTE: Worked hard to set things up in offensive zone and charged into own end when things didn't work out.
RW JAROME IGINLA: Showed patience setting up plays in the offensive end and showed chemistry with Amonte.
C BYRON RITCHIE: Knocked out of the game after taking a vicious headshot from Jarkko Ruutu in the second.
LW CHRIS SIMON: Looked to punish the Canucks for their headhunting.
RW CHUCK KOBASEW: Was battered around but that didn't stop him driving to the net. Had goal and an assist.
D ANDREW FERENCE: Logged more than four minutes of penalty-killing time in the first period alone. Had a solid game beside partner Leopold.
C DAYMOND LANGKOW: Banked in the Flames' third goal.
LW ERIC NYSTROM: Didn't have his best performance of the pre-season but good things seemed to happen when he was around the puck.
LW MARCUS NILSON: Missed regular playing partner Shean Donovan.
C STEVE REINPRECHT: Showed defensive skills while shorthanded and set up Kobasew's goal.
RW CRAIG MACDONALD: Showed hustle on the opening shift.
D RHETT WARRENER: Took an interference penalty after wrapping up Tyler Bouck but might have saved a goal.
D MARK GIORDANO: Not afraid to pinch from the point to keep a puck inside while on the attack.
RW DAVID MOSS: Outmatched along the boards in the offensive zone.
C TOMI MAKI: Wasn't as noticeable while playing the centre position last night as opposed to the wing in previous games.
