HOW THE DEVIL ARE YOU?

Very well. It's good to be here.

IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT AND YOU'RE NOT PLAYING. WHATCHA GONNA DO?

Usually go out with my friends. This past summer we went to New York City a bunch and had a good time.

WHAT'S THE BEST PLACE IN NYC?

A club called Marquee. It's a cool place and we had some good memories there.

PICK FIVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF.

Friendly, outgoing, funny, intense and definitely passionate.

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AT SCHOOL?

Involved would be a good word. I had a lot of friends from a whole bunch of activities, not just the hockey and other athletic teams.

WHAT'S YOUR MOST TREASURED MATERIAL POSSESSION?

My room at home is like a sports memorabilia shrine. I've got tons of signed jerseys, signed baseballs, Muhammad Ali signed gloves, a Julius Erving signed basketball, Larry Bird and Wayne Gretzky jerseys. I actually have baseballs signed by not all of the 500 home run hitters in baseball but pretty close to it. I have 10 or 12 of them.

WHAT'S YOUR POISON?

Milkshake or a good steak dinner.

WHO'S THE MOST FAMOUS PERSON IN YOUR CELLPHONE?

Maybe Bryan McCabe. He spent some time on Long Island and we worked out a few times together. I actually hung out with Lindsay Lohan this past summer. That was pretty cool. But I didn't get her number.

WHO WAS THE LAST PERSON YOU PUNCHED AND WHY?

I actually got in a fight with one of my best friends in college (Michael Woodford) in practice. It was before playoffs and he elbowed me in the face and we dropped the gloves. The pace of practice elevated after that.

WHAT'S YOUR MOST UNPLEASANT CHARACTERISTIC?

I'm stubborn. If somebody pushes my buttons, I'll get into an argument.

WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?

Before coming to this camp, one of my old video co-ordinators at the University of Michigan, David Harlock, who played for the Islanders and the Thrashers, told me not to worry about the last names on the guys' jerseys on the ice. I belong to be out there just as much because I worked hard."

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?

An Explorer Sport-Trac. Not quite an Explorer and not quite a pick-up truck and it was quite ugly.

WHAT REPAIRS COULD YOU DO ON IT?

I turned it in on a lease and didn't want to repair it.

WHAT'S YOUR CULINARY SPECIALTY?

Eggs. Omelettes. The easiest thing you can make and it's as far as I can go.

WHAT TV SERIES DO YOU WANT ON DVD?

I have it. An HBO special called Entourage. Not many guys have heard of it but I made my roommate Dion Phaneuf watch the first season and I think he's into it now.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE UNHEALTHY FOOD?

Ice cream. I love pizza and cheese, too.

WHAT'S THE BEST CONCERT YOU'VE SEEN?

I've been to a few good ones. I've seen Green Day a couple of times and they were awesome. This past summer in Detroit, I saw The Killers.

IF YOU WEREN'T A HOCKEY PLAYER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?

A musician, no question. I'd want to be in a rock band. Or I'd be in Hollywood trying to be an actor.

DO YOU HAVE A PET?

A dog named Jake. He's a vizsla, a Hungarian bird dog. He's pretty cool.

WHAT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE?

My senior year of college so far but I'm looking to a whole bunch more.

WHAT MOVIE MADE YOU TEARY-EYED?

Armageddon. I remember watching it on a bus trip and I was trying hard to not let everyone see it was choking me up.

FUNNIEST THING DURING THE GAME?

Our goalie at Michigan, Al Montoya, got a 10-minute misconduct and the referee made him serve it in the box. He didn't know what to do there and the fans were chanting, 'Free Montoya!'

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU HEARD THE STORY OF YOUR DAD'S STANLEY CUP WINNING OVERTIME GOAL FROM 1980?

Every interview, every time I'm with him, every time I meet an Islanders fan. They all tell me what they were doing when he scored. It's all the time.

DOES IT GET OLD?

No way. A lot of people remember that and it's great for him to be remembered for it. That's what he worked for and he had a great career. If I have half the career he had, it'll be a good one.

COULD YOU BE CONVINCED TO KARAOKE AND, IF SO, WHAT'S YOUR SONG?

Without a doubt. We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel is my go-to song and I've been known to do a pretty good rendition.
