Buffalo Sabres looking to make moves prior to NHL trade deadline

BUFFALO - Big changes could be ahead for the Sabres.

As the Sabres continue to struggle to try to get back into the Eastern Conference playoff race after firing coach Lindy Ruff earlier this season, the next step may be an attempt to completely overhaul the club's roster.

Despite the denials of GM Darcy Regier, league sources confirmed to QMI Agency Saturday the Sabres are indeed ready to "blow it up" and pretty much every player on their roster is available before the April 3 trade deadline.

Sources say the Sabres aren't going to move high-scoring winger Thomas Vanek or top prospects Marcus Foligno, Cody Hodgson or Alexander Sulzer. Nobody would take Tyler Myers' contract, but every player is up for discussion.

The Sabres are treading water. They're about to miss the playoffs for the second straight year. They tried blaming coach Ruff, but replacement Ron Rolston hasn't exactly set the world on fire.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
  Yes, he's perfect
  No, he's not ready
  Bring him to Montreal!
