Sabres sign Leino to multi-year deal

BUFFALO - The Buffalo Sabres announced the signing of forward Ville Leino to a multi-year contract on Friday.

The Sabres did not release terms of the deal, but it is reported to be a six-year, $27 million contract.

Leino played in 81 games for Philadelphia in 2010-11 and notched 19 goals and 34 assists. He also added three goals and two assists in 11 playoff games for Philly this spring.

The 27-year-old native of Finland was acquired by Philadelphia during the 2009-10 season and had a memorable 2010 playoffs, posting seven goals and 14 assists in 19 games while helping the Flyers reach the Stanley Cup Finals.

Leino was signed as an undrafted free agent by Detroit in 2008 and has recorded 30 goals and 43 assists in 149 regular season games with the Red Wings and Flyers.
