TORONTO - Ryan Miller wasn’t serenaded by chants of “Who’s Your Daddy?” by Maple Leaf fans on Tuesday night.

But at this rate, it’s not far off.

Having owned Toronto shooters for much of his career, it is the Leafs who now seem to have Miller’s number.

Thanks to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, the Leafs have now beaten Miller three consecutive times in the past six weeks. Yes, this is the same Ryan Miller who, prior to his modest losing streak versus Toronto, had a career record of 24-8 against the Leafs.

This one got away from Miller from the get go, courtesy of Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf.

If Miller is the face of Sabres franchise, it could be argued that the enigmatic Phaneuf is becoming just that for the Maple Leafs, especially if he keeps producing in this manner. Not only did his first period goal give him 10 points in 10 games, he also logged a whopping 29 minutes, seven seconds of ice time.

But it was his slap shot that whizzed past Miller’s glove at 1:34 of the first period that had the Buffalo goalie shaking his head afterward.

“It wasn’t quite the effort we wanted. I had the chance to set the tone and I didn’t do it,’ ” Miller said of Phaneuf’s blast, which gave the Leafs a 1-0 lead

“It went down from there.”

Maybe it wasn’t Miller Time for the Sabres on Tuesday night, but the defending Vezina winner will attempt to make amends on Wednesday when the Sabres host the New York Rangers at the HSBC Arena.

This much is certain: If the fans start chanting his name there, it won’t be in the same mocking fashion that it was at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday.
