BUFFALO - Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jordan Leopold will miss the rest of the regular season with a hand injury.

Leopold suffered the injury in Friday's 4-2 win over the Panthers.

Sabres general manager Darcy Regier said the team will know more on Monday when Leopold sees a hand specialist, adding the nature of the injury will put the blueliner out for weeks.

Leopold has 13 goals and 22 assists in 71 games this season for the Sabres, his first with the team. Steve Montador entered the lineup for Saturday's game against New Jersey for Leopold.

Buffalo currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
