BOSTON - Shawn Thornton is running out of worlds to conquer.

The Boston Bruins' robust winger is a two-time Stanley Cup champion now and, after filling your television screens in winter and spring, will be coming to your local movie theatre next summer.

Thornton's dream was to get a cameo on the HBO series Entourage, a favourite of his, and it looked like it would happen last spring, but the Bruins' march to the Stanley Cup got in the way. He had a chance to be in the scenes filmed at Yankee Stadium featuring Yankees Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez, but the shoot was the day before a playoff game.

He had to "settle" for a speaking role in the upcoming feature "Ted," directed by Family Guy creator and star Seth MacFarlane and starring Mark Wahlberg (who was also the producer of Entourage, which was based on Wahlberg's early days in Hollywood).

Thornton has met Whalberg a couple times, he said, and done some work for Wahlberg's foundation in Boston. When the Entourage deal didn't work out, Thornton was offered a role in "Ted." It was shot in Boston and features Thornton rushing a stage where Wahlberg greets him with a microphone stand to the face.

"The role is 'Crazy Guy,'" said Thornton, who, so early in his acting career, already seems to be a victim of typecasting. "I still had a fresh scar, a shaved head and a big beard at the time. I have one line, 'You're an ass@#$%.' It was easy. It rolled off my tongue."

In "Ted," Wahlberg plays a Boston guy whose childhood dream of having his teddy bear come to life comes true.
