The Stanley Cup has another battle scar.
Actually, it's a dent, a small ding on the top lip of the bowl, courtesy of Dallas Stars forward Michael Ryder, who had the Cup fall off a table during his day with Lord Stanley in St. John's, Nfld.
Ryder, the ex-Boston Bruin, took the Cup to the city where he had a send-off rally at a hotel before flying to his hometown of Bonavista.
Soon after arriving at the rooftop rally, Ryder gently placed the trophy on a table. As he turned away, part of the table appeared to collapse and, as two local cops looked on, the Cup tipped over, landing on its side.
The mishap came a day after Bruins forward Brad Marchand had the Cup and told Halifax Metro, "I don't know if I want to give it to him because I'm scared it's not going to come back."
