Injury puts Bergeron's Olympic status in question
Star two-way forward injured hand on Monday
By QMI Agency

A hand injury Monday night to Boston Bruins' forward Patrice Bergeron could put his spot on the Canadian Olympic hockey team in jeopardy.

Team Canada's executive director Steve Yzerman told TSN he has yet to make a decision until more is known about the injury. Mike Fisher, Jeff Carter and Shane Doan are among those who have been rumoured to have a shot at an open forward position, but Yzerman didn't speculate on substitutions.

Bruins head coach Claude Julien would only say Tuesday that the talented two-way forward will meet with team doctors to help determine how much playing time he might miss.

Bergeron was hurt during the second period of the Bruins' 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers. He took a shot from fellow Bruin Dennis Wideman on his hand.

Bergeron has scored 11 goals to go with a total of 31 points after 41 games of the 2009-10 season.
